How to Use
InsertPicture for
PowerPointTM 2008
Install
InsertPictureForPPT2008 before
proceding.
InsertPictureForPPT2008
imports
photos from your iPhoto albums, so the pictures you want to import must
be in iPhoto before you begin the importing process.
While using InsertPictureForPPT2008,
iPhoto
windows will display. InsertPictureForPPT2008
does not
use any of iPhoto's
windows. You can click the close button on iPhoto windows, or press
Commad-W to close
iPhoto windows, but don't quit iPhoto because iPhoto does have to be
running
in order to import the photos.
Follow these steps to use InsertPictureForPPT2008:
1. Open InsertPicture
On the Menu Bar, look for the Script Menu icon near the top-right of
the screen. If you see more than one Script Menu, click the script menu that's
furthest to the right, as shown in Figure 1.
(Click on the Figure to enlarge it). The drop-down menu shown in Figure
1 will display.

2. From the drop-down menu, choose
InsertPictureForPPT2008.
It will most likely be at the bottomof the menu. This activates iPhoto
and may display the iPhoto interface. The Get Specified iPhoto
Items dialog box displays with no entries in the Name list, as shown in
Figure 2. Click the Add button.

dialog box

3. The Get Specified iPhoto Items dialog box transforms into a browser
for your iPhoto collection. The browser allows you to choose which
photos to import into PowerPoint. The choices you make are added to the
Name list in the Get Specified iPhoto Items dialog box. You can enlarge
the browser by dragging the lower right had corner of the window down
and diagonally to the right. See Figure 3.
Figure 3: Selecting photos

To use the Get Specified iPhoto Items photo browser, in the top section
click a photo album. The photos in that album display in the Photo
Browser. You can select items using these methods:
- Select All Photos in the album:
On the keyboard press Command-A. All the pictures in the album will
show a selected border.
- Select multiple photos: Hold
the Shift key down as you click on the pictures you wish to add to
PowerPoint. Each picture you select will have its border highlighted
- Select one picture: Click
on a picture. The border will indicate it has been selected.
When
you have made your selection, click the Add button.
4. The Get
Specified iPhoto Items dialog box returns to the way it looks in Figure
4. Now the Name list displays the names of the photos you selected from
your iPhoto albums.
Figure 4: Name list of photos to be
imported into PowerPoint

You can take one of four courses of action:
- Continue: Processes the
photos in the list. All photos in the Name list will be added to
PowerPoint.
- Add: Re-opens the photo
browser (see Figure 3) so you can add more photos to the Name list.
- Remove: Select photos in
the Name list and click the Remove button if you change your mind about
a photo before Continuing,
- Cancel: Quits
InsertPictureForPPT2008. No pictures are imported, and the application
closes.
Click Continue when you are satisfied with
the list of photos to import into PowerPoint.
5. iPhoto windows may display. The won't hurt anything, but you don't
do anything with them. You can ignore them or close them, but don't
quit iPhoto. As InsertPictureForPPT2008 is working, you will see the
message "Create PowerPoint Picture Slideshow" with a spinning wait
indicator and red dot in the Menu, shown in Figure 5.
InsertPictureForPPT2008 causes a new,
blank PowerPoint presentation to
open. The pictures in the Names list are added one picture per
slide to
the presentation. Pictures that are larger than the PowerPoint screen
are scaled to fit. Pictures that are smaller are displayed at their
original size.
Figure 5: Processing the photos

When
processing is complete, the message in the menu bar will go away.
6. Switch to PowerPoint. You can use Command-TAB and choose the
PowerPoint icon. You don't have to wait for processing to be completed
if you want to watch as PowerPoint builds the slide show. When the
processing message is gone from the menu bar, InsertPictureForPPT2008
quits automatically and then you can work with your PowerPoint
presentation.
